VERY MAD SONGS

AN ALTERNATE LOOK AT PURCELL’S “MAD SONGS”
Anne Magouët, soprano / David Chevallier, theorbo and arrangements / Bruno Helstroffer, theorbo

With VERY MAD SONGS, David Chevallier offers a contemperaneous reading of this work, while respecting their identity. We encounter the distinctive atmosphere and the extreme emotional fluctuation that the Mad Songs are built on. Soprano Anne Magouët’s British origins, and her acute sens of drama make her the ideal performer for this repertoire which is both exuberant and introspective.
Bruno Helstroffer and David Chevallier’s theorbos give life to these arrangements which possess a great wealth of rhythm and harmony and bring out the instability of the embodied characters.

MEMORABLE MELODIES > CANCELLED

TORMIS, PÄRT, SWEDISH COMPOSERS…
Svanholm Singers / Sofia Söderberg, direction

After an initial concert at an unforgettable Noirlac Matinale in 2017, the Svanholm Singers are back in Noirlac. This talented Swedish men’s a capella choir was founded in 1998, and is directed by the young conductor, Sofia Söderberg.
This is the opportunity to hear this Northern European vocal programme, which blends sacred and secular music, and older melodies borrowed from Scandinavian folk tradition with music from today.
