Les Traversées – 2022

The abbey has warmed in the sun, our teams are ready to welcome you, we can hear the soothing sound of steps in our brand new gardens and finally, hours of musical wealth offered by exceptional talent. This is what you can expect from the Summer 2022 Les Traversées events. The musicians invited to this year’s edition will be drawing new maps with no boundaries and no border guards, where old music, jazz and traditional music exchange the best of their history and their knowledge.

Lay Brothers' Dormitory

François Salque, cello
Samuel Strouk, guitar and conducting
Adrien Moignard, guitar
Jérémie Arranger, double bass

A “loco” cello – “crazy” in Spanish – shares its madness in this modern-day quartet. With two guitars, one more classical but shaken up bu Piazzolla, the other stricken with Django Reinhardt’s swing, and a double bass which pulsates to the rhythm of jazz, they take off in a saga which links centuries of musical history. In this concert of virtuosos, initiated by Samuel Strouk and François Salque, we can hear intimately related universes, from Sufic India to romantic souls, from romance to tango, from the Balkans to Irish coastlines…

Bring your own food to our picnic or just book one of our picnic baskets

Picnic baskets are prepared by Cuisinette, a Bourges caterer who works mostly with local products and, on every Les Traversées Saturday, offers a Berry Bowl: a mixed salad with cereals, vegetables, legumes and other local and/or organic produce, influenced by international tastes.

Abbey Church

Les Traversées baroques
Étienne Meyer, leader

Here is an oratorio – forgotten for four hundred years – which has fortunately reappeared from the shadows. Its author was a Franciscan monk, Bonaventura Aliotti, who became a master in this kind of Sacred History which is based on biblical accounts or excerpts from the gospels. Taken from Genesis, this spiritual opera from the Father of Palermo shares the tormented feelings of Adam and Eve: love, doubt, fear, guilt… disturbed by allegorical characters, Passion, Reason and Death, the original lovers will sign the mortal fate of Man.

Les Traversées Baroques enjoys support from the Ministère de la Culture (DRAC Bourgogne Franche-Comté) as part of approved musical and vocal ensembles, from the Conseil Régional de Bourgogne Franche-Comté, the Conseil Départemental de la Côte d’Or and the City of Dijon (through an agreement).
