From Italy to Scandinavia, from Spain to Russia, Persia and Jerusalem, les Traversées 2021 will open and explore the great book of universal music from past to present. These concerts are waiting to be discovered – or rediscovered – and are performed by exceptional musicians with open and contemporary perspectives. We can guarantee emotion, surprise and a little adventure in the woods.

Monks' refectory

The Ideal Concert / Marianne Piketty, direction

“The Blue Hour” is the fleeting moment which happens between the end of the night and the dawn, a moment of silence, promise and uncertainty… The programme is a tribute to Hildegard von Bingen, medieval abbess and woman of letters, The Ideal Concert presents three of her monodies, dedicated to innocence and martyrdom. Secondly, the ensemble will perform two octet pieces by Chostakovitch (1924-25) and Hartmann’s Funeral Concerto, a real cry against obliviousness, a call to resistance, written in 1939 and marked by the dark events which were taking shape. These three great cultural figures inspired the composer Philippe Hersant, A Vision of Hildegard, created specially and dedicated to the Ideal Concert and to Marianne Piketty.

Why are some melodies so overpowering? It’s often their ability to take on colours with an infinite number of shades, and this is the experience offered by Marianne Piketty with a new programme entitled “L’Heure bleue”, recently recorded for the Evidence label at Noirlac Abbey.
Jean-Guillaume Lebrun – La Terrasse

Supported by SPEDIDAM, the Caisse des Dépôts, le Mécénat Musical Société Générale and Noirlac Abbey.

Bijan Chemirani, zarb, saz, percussions / Keyvan Chemirani, zarb, santur, percussions

For years, following the footsteps of their father, master of the zarb, Bijan et Keyvan Chemirani have brought their practice of this style of percussion used in this skillful Persian music into contact with musicians from different horizons, world music, jazz, classical or contemporary. Today, they have composed a repertoire together which is stamped with oriental tradition (Persian, Indian, Turco-Greek …) but also well anchored in the current world with hints of folk and pop music.
