Masterclass “The Diotima Academy”
Created by the Diotima Quartet, which has built its reputation on its knowledge of and work on the contemporary repertoire, the Diotima Academy offers three young composers and three young quartets from the best conservatoires in the world an opportunity to meet at the abbey.
The artists from the three quartets work on the special relationship that they must necessarily maintain with the composer of a new work as they approach a public performance.
In 2018 the Diotima Academy will be welcoming the Antarja Quartet (Poland), the Cosmos Quartet (Spain) and a quartet from the CNSM in Lyon. The composers are Cagdas Tanik (Turkey), Mischa Tangian (Germany) and Aogaki Masahiro (Japan).
It takes place over the course of a week in Noirlac’s studios.
During the closing concert, the works written especially for the occasion by the young composers are presented alongside other works from the contemporary repertoire.
