There’s plenty going on at Noirlac !
Following the opening of the educational “farm” in 2016, with its workshops and recording studios, the abbey continues its gentle transformation. Several innovations this year:
The abbey in its bocage farmland
From 1st April to 31st October, a nature guide arranges both themed and general visits to better understand the relationship between the monument and its immediate environment, by discovering its fauna, flora and links with the history of human activities, especially that of the monks. These visits are adapted to each school year group and are available from the start of the 2017-2018 school year.
Introduction to sound creation
Sound is the main theme of the cultural project chosen for Noirlac. In partnership with the Philharmonia of Paris, the Conservatoire de Bourges and the local association Manufacture des Arts Numériques, the abbey has set up sound workshops supervised by 2 professional facilitators, starting in autumn 2017; a course that leads from listening to composition, and is accessible to everyone!
The Noirlac Gardens
Soon the gardens designed by Gilles Clément will become a reality at Noirlac.
Several educational projects have already begun around this planned realisation, which will begin in 2018; new projects may emerge over the coming months, at your initiative or ours.
Mayhem at the Abbey!
A new theme for the start of the season to take a light-hearted approach to various issues concerning history, architecture, and monastic society: the murder of a monk in the abbey in the fifteenth century…

The educational department is at your service for any class project
including a visit around the monument alongside discovery or creative workshops.
